How did you study for NCLEX?

Published

I'm taking my boards exam next month which I'm very excited about!

I've been doing the mastery pn app and silverstri NCLEX questions online from the book we got at school. How did you guys study? How many questions a day? And what sources were they from? Thanks in advanced for sharing

I have been doing questions from the Mastery app. I do about 50-100 a day. I mostly do the questions and study the lab values. I am currently in an ATI live review and absolutely love it. She gives us tips on how to answer questions and addresses the material that will be presented on NCLEX. I study some content in Saunders. I just took the predictor test and I have a 90% chance of NCLEX the first time.

If you are a newly grad I think you need to practice answering questions already but if you graduated long time ago I think you need to start reviewing content first. Saunders and NCSBN Learning ext is good for content review. Uworld and Kaplan for practice questions. Not a nurse yet and we have different study technique so just weigh yoursef which is effective to you.

I recently found out that I passed! Took my test 7/23 and finished in 75 questions. I did a local, live review course here in Ohio run by Renee Buszta which was good for the content. They also had us do questions as homework. I also used the UWORLD and NCLEX Mastery banks. Both are decent. I think UWorld probably has some higher level difficulty questions that are more on the level of what I saw on the actual test.

On a side note I really felt that I failed the thing walking out. There were actually a handful of questions I know that I got wrong as I was thinking about them afterwards. Confidence and getting some quality content in there with the questions is what got me through..

Congratulations! How's your overall average in Uworld?

I used Kaplan and NCLEX Mastery App. I do 100 questions per day. I prefer the rationales on the NCLEX Mastery App and it's more convenient since it's in the phone.

Congratulations! How's your overall average in Uworld?

My average in Uworld was 73%. I started out in the 60s but I brought it up with lots of content review and just getting used to the question style. I've heard they recommend an average of 60% before taking the NCLEX. I've also seen lots of people post on allnurses who've avergaed in the 50s and done just fine too.

What was especially difficult on the NCLEX itself wasn't necessarily the question stem or what they were asking. A lot of times it was the choices they gave you that made them harder to answer. Two interventions that both make good sense to do, but there is a 'best' one in there..

I'm a new grad! I graduated the end of may :)

Yayy! Congrats!!!

I like the app too, and the questions are actually challenging which I love!

I just passed the NCLEX. I took hurst review I did 1900 uworld questions reviewed Saunders and did NCLEX mastery. I don't know of anyone who feels confident after that exam. I was certain I failed. It's a complex exam. Congratulations! Such a relief to get that pass!

I also used the NCLEX Mastery app and loved it because I could do questions while in line at the grocery store or on break at work and feel like I was learning something even on days I worked 12 hours and didn't have the time or energy to have a sit-down study session. I also used Virtual ATI because it was provided by my nursing program, but would not recommend paying for it if you don't already have it paid for by your institution!! I did do a demo of UWorld and it seemed amazing- I wish I would have learned about it earlier, so I would definitely investigate that. All that being said, with ATI and NCLEX Mastery, I passed in 75 questions even though I got almost 2/3 of my questions as SATA!! Good luck!
