How to start as a dialysis tech

Okay, i have been looking into my options and fields of which i can go into while im waiting to get into nursing school. I currently have my CNA cert, CPR cert, and took a phlebotomy course. Now, here's what im wondering, what do i have to do to obtain a job as a dialysis tech? Is that a job I need to be an RN for? Do they train you on the job? Do I need to be certified as such? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

You can apply as a PCT (patient care technician) but you will need to take a certification exam during your first 18 months of employment to keep your job.

Most major dialysis companies offer on the job training.

Hi! the first question I need to ask where are you located? IF you are in Southern California. I can help you with the Dialysis Technician Program. As i m waiting for to get into the program, I did my Dialysis Technician Program, and now studying for the state exam. I could help you with the information where i did my program at.

If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]

Hi Minnie, I'm in SoCal too! I'm pretty much a noob for everything. Just doing my pre-reqs for nursing so far. I have no healthcare experience, no CNA and no volunteering experience either. Where did you go to school for the Dialysis Technician Program? I'm hoping to get my foot in the door through a healthcare career before I go into nursing. Thanks so much! (I didn't want to email you outright in case you're like, "Who IS this?") =)
