How soon is too soon?

Hypothetically speaking, how soon is too soon to switch to another job if you are a new grad? I understand this isn't a black/white issue, more of a gray area issue when you weigh every option and look at each individual situation, but I would like some opinions.

Also -- I am aware this question may have been asked multiple times already and I have not browsed the entire forum, so my apologies if this is an age old, annoying question.

Thanks in advance!

I'd say, stay a year.

A year...is that a year after you are off orientation or a year total? Who knows...

You are right in that this is a "gray area".

A year would be good, HOWEVER if you are toatally miserable and you/family are suffering or you have little support at your current postition etc...then you must do what is best for your particular circumstance.

Would you care to offer more information on why you are asking?

A year total. Counting from hire date, not counting from being out of orientation.

jessi1106 -- I sent you a PM. I'd rather post specifics there since I don't know who all might be lurking. :)

If there are specific issues that cannot be worked out, you don't need to stay beyond your original commitment. Well, you would still need to put in resignation, etc.

Are there things that could be worked out? Have you checked other options where you are? Is there EAP or HR that would be a safe place to deal with whatever is forcing you to look at getting out?

I will send you the same PM I sent the previous poster. As I said before, I would put the whole situation here, but I'd rather not seeing as how I have no idea who could be lurking here. :)
