How do you shadow an NP?

Sounds like a dumb question, but I've actually never shadowed anyone before.

And I really need to see what being an NP is like. I've bounced back and forth between all of the advanced practice roles and I just can't decide. And I'm going to go nuts if I don't start coming to a decision. I'm leaning towards the NP right now, either ANP or ACNP, and I have to find out what it's like.

So, how do I find an NP to shadow, and how do I do it without violating HIPAA

Ask your instructors if they know of an NP that likes to have people shadow, ask fellow classmates too.

How would you violate Hippa ?.. Shawdowing someone is not a violation of hippa itself. you are an RN already right ?

Find a NP either ANP or ACNP and talk to them

I would recommend you follow a FNP also

I am a advocate of the FNP program

I'm not an RN, at least for another 7 months, so that's why it might be an isssue...

I've heard other recommend FNP for its flexibility...but I don't want to work with kids so an ANP or ACNP would be a better match for me.
