I am starting the LPN program in a couple months and wanted to know how other nursing students out there prefered to take notes....Do you prefer hand written notes or to take notes on your laptop? Also, which one makes study time a lot easier? I'm trying to figure out what other's think and which makes it easier for them so I know which is best when it comes down to the first day of school.

:stdnrsrck:

Well i dont start until Monday but i would suggest a tape recorder....and laptop or notebook...?...i wont know until i start...lol

My teachers DO NOT let you tape record

I hand write my notes, ny teacher also gives us power points to write our notes on.

When I go home I rewrite them then tape them into a tape recorder.

Then when i go to sleep I play the recorder.

This has worked for me

I started in March and graduate in April

I have a A average

Remember what works for someone migh not work for you

Good Luck

Handwritten. I learn things better by writing them down myself. Also, "technology" (cell phones, laptops, iPods...) are strictly prohibited in my program, and with laptops it's for a good reason since most people do nothing but sit on AIM or facebook or do other things instead of taking notes. It's distracting to others and is direspectful to the instructor imo. The use of recorders vary by instructor and by school. I wasn't allowed to record in my Foundations I class, but this semester (for Foundations II) we are allowed to as long as we do not redistribute the material to others or in the form of a podcast or something like that. My patho instructor is strictly against it and told us on the first day that if she suspects that we are recording her, we will hear from her lawyer. So again, it depends on your instructor or school.

First get the feel for the teacher and that should help you decide on how to take notes. One teacher i used my voice recoder because his test were based off his lecture the other teacher i had i just wrote a few notes an read the book because her test were based off the book. HTH
