I am going into the second year ADN program, 3 kids, and I'll be working 3 8 hr. shifts Friday, Saturday and Sundays throughout the program. Clinicals are 3-10:30 Wednesdays and Thursdays, Class on Monday with data collection on Tuesdays.

I am a mother of two very active boys, 4 and 7, going into my 3rd semester of a two year associates degree program. I have had to learn to let certain things go, (for example, dusting, clean house, reading anything except textbooks). My priorities are my schoolwork and my children, and try to throw in a little time for the hubby here and there. It is very hard, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it has a big old RN in the middle of it. Clinicals are more challenging and rewarding than I thought they would be. I love it, and when I do get stressed I have to remind myself, and my family that this is temporary. The time I expected to have to commit and the actual time I have to commit are very different. It is a FULL TIME job. Along with the full time job of kids and home, I dont have time to work. Actually, I am working this summer at my college, doing all the immunization records, and because I am not taking any classes I feel like I am on vacation! If you have kids you should expect to need full time daycare. Student loans can help cover that. When you weigh your earning potential against the loans, I feel like it is worth it. But please, dont underestimate the time commitment involved. I have seen classmates flunk out because they didnt study enough, and after all the work and effort involved in getting accepted, that is just crazy!! Give it your all!!
