How much do CNA's make?

You can usually google CNA pay and type in the hospital name after it and usually some website will have the information. That is how I looked up my pay rate, which came out to $11, and turns out I make $11.5/hr. I live in the NW chicago suburbs.

think about what you think you should make and then estimate about $3 less than that. that's a good rule of thumb. lol. no, really. i got a job as a CNA "to see if nursing was right for me" and i was disgusted at the pay. i literally made more money waiting tables - BUT it ended up being the best thing i ever did. i learned that caring for patients was what i was meant to do and i'd never done anything else i'd enjoyed more - even if the pay sucked. if your reason is REALLY to see if nursing is right for you - then overlook the pay (bc you WILL be disappointed) and go in there and find out if it's right for you. you won't be a CNA forever - it's just a stepping stone. remember that.

yup - as a college grad (not in nursing) i didn't even make $10 as a CNA (can we say minimum wage), but like i said - i REALLY did it to see if i'd enjoy nursing. if that's your real motivation - you'll do it regardless.

Yeah, I mean I did CNA to see if I wanted to get into Nursing. I waited a whole year because I was freaked out and didn't want to mess up and hurt someone on accident. But I finally got everything together and decided to give it a go. Its defiantly the best choice that I ever made in my life. I really enjoy working there. I feel at home when I'm working there, like I belong working with patients that need help. I know its my calling. The money is just an extra bonus to me now, I don't even think about it. The only thing I don't like about the job is going to bed at night time and hearing call lights ringing in my ears

I am CNA who decided not to continue into nursing. The pay is a disgrace, but I am not here for the money. If you are just trying to find out if the nursing field is right for you, it is a great way to find out if it is the right career choice. You will work darn hard for not so great money. If you continue into nursing, your paycheck will improve, but you will still be working darn hard for that pay. As a CNA you will learn so much, but it is not really a job that pays enough to raise a family.

They do not get paid enough...I do not care what part of the country that person may work, it isn't enough.

my neighbor has been a cna for more than 5 yrs and she makes $19/hr..we're on long island

Nurses where I live make on average 65k-70k... how is that not a lot of money? And again, if the pay means that much to you, then go into speaclized nursing.. CRNA's make anywhere from 117k-300k. Or if thats not good enough become a surgeon and make 500k - 1mil.

Yes, but I read this post and thought it was saying that nurses don't get paid well. So I was simply replying.
