i heard that you learn all this book stuff---but it does not click until you actual start working as a nurse. The things they teach us ---i might as well be able to do brain surgery.

I did better in my OB and Peds classes than cardiac and GI. I am not a me surg person. The clinical part I made a 100%---but whne it comes to the book stuff----i just hate it.

TRUST ME!!!!

this stuff will come back to you.

i too, thought how in hell am i ever going to absorb all this stuff?

and i did have an md friend of mine, look at my curriculum and was astounded at what we were expected to learn.

but when you are out on the floor, the pertinent data will, and i repeat will, come back to you.

much luck,

I never did get the nursing-theory stuff.......I just wanted to get out there and DO it, not analyze it. To this day I can't remember a darn thing about the theory classes, but I'm a helluva nurse (if I do say so myself) and if my last evaluation is to be believed, I'm also good at the "customer service" part of my job. I'm not saying that you shouldn't bother learning theory, but you can be a good nurse without having memorized Watson until you can quote it in your sleep. :)
