Does anyone know approximately how many applicants there usually are for school nurse positions in your area? I'm wondering if it's crazy like teacher applications or a much smaller number. I just recently applied since I now qualify. I'm hopeful :)

i would imagine it would be lower than the amount of applications for teachers, especially if a certain degree level or CSN is required

Much smaller and in our district they usually hire from the school nurse subs. However, there are usually a lot less nurse positions than teacher ones so it probably evens out about the same. I was always told school nurse positions are hard to get because no one ever leaves once they're in but I've found that's not really true either, at least in our district. We've had a lot of turn-over due to people moving, not liking it, wanting more pay, etc. We do have a few who have been here for over 15 yrs but over half have been here less than 5. I don't want on full-time right now because I don't like working 5 days a week and still am not 100% sure this is where I want to stay so I just keep subbing for now and like that.
