During nursing school, about how long do you have to work in a certain department in the hospital?
Is it one semester for one department?
Also, about how many hours do you have to be in the hospital for?

It works differently for every school.. You should contact the nursing department of the school(s) youre interested in and ask them.
i can tell you how it works at my school:
we have clinical twice a week from 6:30-3:30.
The first trimester is split between a nursing home and a med surg floor. The second trimester is more med surg practicing more advanced skills. Third trimester is half peds, the other half is Labor and delivery. Fourth is psych and nursing home. Fifth (and final) is community nursing.
our trimesters are 14 weeks long.

We have 2 clinical rotations per 15 week semester. Since we started clinical in the 7th week of this semester (it's our first semester), we have 2 different units that we'll go to for 4 weeks each.
We have clinical from 7am-12pm two days a week in first level, and from 7am-1pm two days a week in second level.
Thanks for your reply! However, what do you mean by "first and second level"?
First level=first year
Second level=second year
It's an associate's program.
