How to be a good preceptor

I've been a preceptor for new grads or even new employees with ICU experience for a good amount of years, but I was wondering if anyone had anything they can share for me to read or just some past experiences as a preceptor and/or the as the preceptee, that can help me become a better preceptor. Anything is appreciated Thank you :)

Be mindful of space. As recently being precepted one thing I longed for was a little space the closer I got to being on my own. Know when to cut that umbilical cord. Also, know when to throw the life saver. Do not be judgemental if it takes a few times to get a skill down for your preceptee. I'm the kind of person that seriously needs to keep practicing a psychomotor skill before it clicks, it's not that I was lazy or not paying attention. I just take a few more tries.

Just BE patient.

Give SPACE

And BELIEVE in your preceptee.

My preceptor had faith in me and that mattered so so very much.

You're looking for tips on being a good preceptor, that already is 3/4 the battle ... giving a toot! =)
