How to get a job?

Since my husband's job is not going so well I have decided to go back to work. I have been a stay at home mom for the past year. I had planned to go to school but my husband's job took a turn for the worse & now that things are so iffy I don't want to be in school if he loses his job.

Of course now that I am looking for a job there close to no LVN positions available in my town. When I wasn't looking there were more than plenty. I don't know what to do. I've applied to jobs over an hour away because the hospital in my town has no openings & I'm blacklisted from the prison.

I have an interview with a dialysis company but they pretty much told me no over the phone, so I don't know why they are interviewing me. We really need me to get a job. I've come close to applying for a job that is an hour & a half away!

What are the types of jobs you are applying to.

You state you are looking for places so far away from you but are there avenues in nursing that you might not have looked into yet.

What about home care agencies or hospice. Do you have VA hospitals and homes around by you. There are retirement homes and homes for the disabled as well.

I'm applying to hospitals, dialysis center, LTACs & a jail. There is a VA hospital but they aren't hiring. There are home care agencies & hospice but I need a job with good insurance should my husband lose his job completely. I have worked home health/PDN before & they don't give great/any benefits.

It's very competitive for LVN positions down here. There are postings everywhere for PDN "jobs". But I need something substantial. I hope I find a job eventually.

I hear you on insurance we are in the same boat. My husband lost full time at work so lost our insurance and my home healths insurance is totally outrages so i did not even want it plus i font work full time and dont qualify. We had no choice to put our kids on Medicaid and we bought our own insurance.

I have epilepsy so I NEED insurance. I'm so afraid my husband will lose his job. Every week it's something different, but I shouldn't be surprised since he works in the oil field. I'm hoping to find a job soon. There a plenty of RN jobs but when it comes to LVN jobs any good ones are taken.

Oh, I forgot to add. I did look at the school. But this is how much the LVN makes. No joke.

I don't know how they expect someone to live off of $17,000/year. I mean the cost of living is cheap here but not THAT cheap!!!!

Holy crap, I made $10.50/hr once at a hospitality job and even that netted me $22,000 gross when I did my taxes. $17k is ridiculous for any type of nursing position. It's even ridiculous for a CNA position, IMO.

Yeah, they pay CNAs more than $10.50/hr here. I don't know who would be willing to take that job for that little. I saw that and my jaw dropped. They need to increase the pay significantly.
