How to Find out Hours/shift

I've looked at some open positions at my organization and the hours are listed as varies and variable. Would it be bad to call the unit and ask them what hours they are open or what shifts they work?

One of the positions is a Surgery Pre Holding job. That would affect whether or not I want to apply for a transfer.

Sounds like there is no set shift. There may be some variance in shift according to their demand, especially in surgery. You may work 7-3 one day and 8-4 or 10-6 the next day.

I agree with the comment above. Typically when they say the hours vary it could be a numerous amount of hours between 7 am and 7 pm. You can call but you may get the same answer from a live person saying it varies of what times you work. Good luck to you!!!

Thanks, that's pretty much what I want to find out from them. Most importantly their latest shift. So if I called and they said we staff until 7pm, I would know not to waste time applying.

You might want to find out if they routinely run late getting out. If the shift is 9-5, are there times that the patient load requires you to stay late (if you have a problem with working after a certain time)?
