How on earth...

Do you study for the test on "Material A" while prepping for class on "Material B" while also studying med terminology & med calculations?! Ahh! :(

Have you never taken multiple classes simultaneously?

I usually write a checklist of everything I need to accomplish. On a piece of paper I create columns or sections for each class and in each column write everything I need to do for that specific class, from "read Chapter 20" to "take Quiz 3." Once I write everything down I can see where I need to spend the most time.

I usually rotate classes as I study. I'll study for one class for maybe a couple of hours and then switch to another. I find that a lot of the material in nursing school overlaps.

Yes, I have. I'm taking multiple classes now. I was just one of the "lucky" ones that didn't really need to study for prereqs, and I already know that will not suffice here. The column idea seems good - I can split it up between tests & lectures instead of classes.

You must become a mental octopus! Seriously-organize-organize-organize...then you can effectively study...study all the time. For me it was "chunks" of time 20 min. here 30 min. there at the gym, before bed, even in the car! You can do it!

During first year I just didn't prepare for class B. I'd show up with no clue about the material and just catch up afterward. This year we have little quizzes and activities to force us to prep, so I'm struggling with the same thing. It is a good lesson in time management, but for me it's more about having to let go of studying to move on. I never think I know enough, so I never feel "finished" studying. So stopping early doesn't set well with me.

What I've started doing is blocking out my time in advance. I'll spend two hours every Sunday reading. By the time a test is coming up ice already finished reading that material, so the two hours can be spent reading ahead.

ETA: sorry, hit send before I was done!

Sorry, I just reread my post and was like, man, that was rude! Wish I had been one of those lucky ones.

Love the mental octopus image!!

Yeah it's getting a bit crazy now. We have our first two exams this week, one in fundamentals and one in assessment/pharm, we have our first day of clinicals this week, and last week the instructors had the audacity to start lectures on Unit two. :banghead: Organization is paramount. I write all my readings down for each unit, so I don't have to keep flipping around for the syllabus. I have folders, notebooks, planners, white board...... and I'm still a confused mess. Going into week four and I've still not come up with a system that flows. :***:

I haven't come up with a nice system yet either. I have all of my notes organized by test, but they've posted things that'll be done two months from now! I also have a calc test, skills test, and clinicals coming up. And another class, but thankfully that's easy. AHHH!
