How difficult is Intro to Nursing class? Also need help on choosing a biology

How difficult would you say Intro to Nursing course is? Also I am trying to decide wheher to take general microbiology or pathogenic microbiology. Did you take either one and which do you suggest? I just completed my A&P in 6 weeks and got a C :banghead: so now i will have to retake it. I have to complete thse 3 classes before apllying to Nursing program. I dont want to wait a whole year so was wondering if you think its possible to take all 3 classes in fall and do well? or should I just wait?

I never had to take an "Intro to Nursing" course as a pre-requisite to nursing school, so I cannot for sure say what this will entail. However, if it is like Fundamentals of Nursing, then you should be okay with taking that and a science course. Whether you should take general or pathogenic microbiology, I would ask your nursing school of choice. I think general microbiology would be the correct course, however, names for courses can be deceiving. Lastly, taking A&P, microbiology, and fundamentals of nursing class together was doable for me. I took them together in a standard 16-week semester, so it was probably not as fast-paced as the 6 week course of A&P you took.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding! I have a choice between taking general microbiology or pathogenic biology. either one will satisfy. Trying to decide whether or not i will take the 3 classes in the fall. Both biology classes will be 16 weeks and Intro to Nursing will be 8 weeks. I think A&P will be easier this time around so I believe I can do it.

I took an intro to nursing class last semester. It basically covers the history of nursing... where it began... who had an influence on it... different nursing organizations and what they do... etc. It was a fairly easy class I got an A and I started the class when my youngest was almost 3 months old and I was sleep deprived lol and I was also taking a sociology class... so I wouldn't worry too much about that one. Goodluck!

If I had to choose between the two microbiology classes, I would choose the general one. Only because it covers a little bit of everything whereas the pathogenic one may be more specific but you will not cover as many areas. You will probably be more of an expert on certain subjects if you take the pathogenic one, but the general one will give you the most important facts of most of the subjects.

Also, I think you should be fine if you take all 3 in the fall. Since your nursing course will be out of the way half way in and you already have had a taste of A&P, so some information may already be familiar to you, letting you balance a micro class in as well.

I would suggest general Micro. Pathogenic micro usually assumes you have a background in bio and/or micro (depends on your school).

Are you a Macomb community college students? Because those are the classes I had to take. Last fall I tool the patho micro class, ap, intro, and comparative religions. It was insane! But I wanted to apply for the 2013 program. I ended up wih good grades, but my hesi score did not help:( anyways intro to nursing is like someone already said it covers a lot history of nursing, and it is a lot of material ( at mcc the course is only 8 weeks long) it also covers a bit of math. I wish I could take general micro, but since I did not take bio, I can only take patho. I am actually retaking it because I got a B and I want an A to increase mu chances to get in the program :)
