Hi all,
I'm senior nursing student in a BSN program.
Upon graduating I'll have my year of chem., 1 semester of organic, Statistics, 3 years of EMT experience (per diem and volunteer), ACLS, and PALS.
I live near NYC so I'm hoping to get an ICU job straight out of school. I'm hoping my EMT, ACLS, and PALS will facilitate that. I know obviously Montefiore, Mt. Sinai, or Columbia would be excellent hospitals to get experience from but I'll take any critical care position I can get and switch jobs after getting some initial experience if I have to.
My GPA is holding steady at a 3.5 - 3.6. Assuming I can get 1-2 years critical care experience straight out of school, do you think I have a solid shot at getting into one of NY's CRNA programs (Columbia, Albany Medical, Buffalo, or Downstate)???
Also, does my resume look solid enough to get an ICU job, fresh out of school? I've been told it's very difficult as of now.
