Hello, I am currently taking pre-req courses for my nursing program and I pretty pulled up good GPA until this semester.
Anatomy killed me... First test that I EVER failed in my whole college year. I also took Microbiology lecture exam as well, but I think I did OK.
Just wondering, I do not have a social life, REALLY. How do you make myself calm down? I am all stressed out.
I am being whinny, by the way. Just to find out how Pre-Nursing students ways of meditating.

For Calming yourself down, try taking a yoga class. At my school, they have free classes. Yayyy! I have not signed up yet but I plan on doing it because I hear its awesome for relaxation as well as flexibility.
The one thing I do to calm myself down is going for a walk and just let my mind wander and take in the scenery. Or just listen to some music that inspires me or motivates me. Another thing I do is I watch a funny tv show or movie. Laughter can really be good medicine.
But as far as your classes go. If its your first test, you still have time to pull a good grade so don't panic. Just put more time and effort into studying. I know others do it and excel but for me, I can only take 1 science class at a time. Maybe you should consider doing that. I know science classes take a lot of my time to study and do well so I would rather just do one at a time so I can focus on that 1. Do you think it might be too much for you to handle to take both micro and A&P at the same time? I don't look at that as a bad thing, I think everyone should play to their own strengths. So if you can't do well in both classes at the same time, you might want to consider dropping one so you can focus on doing well, not just OK.

What I do is leave some time for myself, to do something nice for ME.
Just because I take 10 mins out of my day to do my nails, or to take a nice loong shower wont cause me to fail. And trust me those little things HELP! ALso HAVE a social life, go out once a month at least, spend time with family.
Enjoy life, enjoy learning, you are fortunate to get the education you are getting and remember as long as there is LIFE there is HOPE.

You should try to develop your own stress-coping strategy before you enter nursing school. Try different activities and see which one relaxes you best. You might enjoy exercising, meditating, reading, or something totally different. Many friends of mine enjoy running. Personally, I love to work out in the gym (hitting weights). Once you found what works for you, make sure you stick with it even though your schedule might get crazy.

I find that working out/running works best for me. I always make time for the gym or a run, even if I only have time to do a mile. I like to do this at the end of my day too, it clears my head, and its a great way to let out all of your frustrations of the day.

here are some simple suggestions for an old student. first take small frequent breaks. psyc studies indicate that you attention span is tyically 30 mins. go back to studying a refocus on a different subject. second, remove distractions or don't study in areas/spacces with distractions, such as your computer or tv. third, excercise, yoga, and mediatation are promote similar physiological response to calm down. you choose the activity. fourth, go find some distraction from studies in a timely fashion. be human and senseible. finally a book that i recommend is: becoming a master student tenth edition by [color=#003399]david ellis. good luck

I usually give myself at least once a week to chill with my friends and do different activities. I know how you feel and studying does take up alot of time. Last semester, I didn't give myself down time and I felt very stressed out. This semester, I kind of promised myself to at least do some fun activity once a week and/or once a month (once midterms and finals comes along). Experience is your best teacher.
I suggest you find out some activities at school and/or meetup.com.
