Published

Many of us work or have worked while completing those or even actual nursing classes with great grades. Don't let work become an excuse, just study

Is A&P your only class? Then even with working full time that should be manageable and work irrelevant.

Write down your schedule for the week including work, transportation, exercise, etc. You will probably find that there is lots of time for you to study.

So just find the right way(s) to study and stick to a schedule.

I'm a full time worker and currently attending 4 classes. I have no idea what to do, I'm stressed out!

When taking a class with a lab component, you need to consider that 1.5 or 2 classes. 4 classes with one of them being a lab seems like a bit much. Study after work, all hours of the night, that's what I had to do! Don't just study your book. Find other resources online to help reinforce the information. There's a great iPad app called Visual Body that helped me - not free though. If you think AP is hard... AP 2 won't be any easier, nor will actual nursing classes! Best to get good study habits down now before it gets more difficult. Good luck!

Thank you! I'll definitely look into the app.

Making a schedule still stands. It helps you see where you have time and where you have opportunities.

Ive work 15-30 hours a week through my prerequisites and now through nursing school. My first semester consisted of 18 credits, including A&P, while also have 2 kids under 5.

My planner was my bible. I wrote down exactly what I needed to study and read and complete each day to stay on task. I figured out the best time for me to study depending on the class. Math and English came easy to me, so those were the classes I focused on while with my kids. I left A&P after they had gone to sleep unless I was just reviewing notes or flash cards.

Figure out how to study and tailor to the class, instructor, and test style. I studied differently for lab vs lecture, and even from A&P 1 vs A&P 2. I got an A in both.

Planning, structure, commitment!

Thank you! I'll definitely start using a planner and since I'm not really a great test taker, I'll ask my manager to put me in part time.

I don't know how many hours you work, but it shouldn't be a problem if you exercise proper time management (which you will need for nursing school).

The semester before I started my program, I took A&P II with lab, Microbiology with lab, Speech, Theatre Appreciation and English, all with a job as a medical scribe working nights in the ER. Trust me, I am not that special or any sort of genius, I just managed my time. If I can do it, you certainly can.

Thank you for the motivation! I work from 3:30 to 11:00 pm five times a day and have four classes. I think the best for me is to ask for part time and make sure I'm studying properly
