Hello all,
I currently am finishing up my prerequisites at my local community college.
Overall, I have 37 credits, and my GPA is 3.66.
My plan is to apply for admissions for Spring 2017 into local nursing schools.
The schools I plan on applying to are: UT Health, UTMB, Texas Woman's University, and UT Arlington (online).
My preference would be to stay in the Houston area, but I am not biased to applying to as many as I can.
UT Arlington has an interesting online program, but I am leery that the online portion would not prepare me enough (even though the weekends are 12 hour shifts for clinics at Methodist Willowbrook).
The remainder of this year, I will be focusing on finishing the next 23 credits I need (7 in progress).
I would love any feedback that anyone may have on their experience with application to these schools, has attended, or if you are also like me, trying to determine the schools they are applying to and the best way to go about that.
Thank you!

Hi, I don't have experience with applying but I wanted to drop in and say that the 1st 3 schools you mentioned I also am applying to hopefully this fall. Good luck! They are such good schools. I can't wait to apply.

Admission to the three traditional programs you've mentioned is still unbelievably competitive so you may want to explore some alternatives. I have no idea of the UT-Arlington situation.
Wishing you the best of luck in your nursing education journey.
Thank you! It looks like due to my pre-reqs, and deadlines for each school, I will be applying for them one at a time (meaning semester at a time).
This means I will be focusing on UT Health first, for the Spring 2017 admissions. Then, applying for UTMB and TWU around the same time.
Good luck!
Hey thanks for the heads up.
I have been attending as many information sessions for these schools that I can, on top of researching online.
When I attended the UTMB information session, while they said it is a competitive application pool, many people who apply do not meet minimum requirements, or start the application and never finish. So, that would mean it's about a 1/3 chance in getting in.
The UT Arlington is really a last resort, as they want you to take pathophysiology and intro to nursing with them, then apply for admissions to their nursing program.
