60hours

I have never run into this situation before, but it looks like I may in coming weeks.

I work both with an agency and also privately. Do these hours get combined and need to stay at or under 60 for the week?

For example I typically work 50hours (5-10hrs) through the agency and then one day on the weekend privately for a different client.

I know that individually I cannot work more than 12hr days or 60hrs in a week. But does that mean combined as well since it is is all private duty care?

Please advise. Thanks!

    I've never heard of not being able to do 60 hour weeks. I've done 80+ hour weeks. Is this your agency policy?

    I've worked well over 100 hrs in one week before, and for the same agency. They were willing to pay the overtime. You can work as much as you can physically handle, keeping in mind that if you mess up due to fatigue, you are putting your livelihood at risk. Don't mix up private duty with the shift work you do for an agency. It is of no concern to the agency if you do extra private duty for the same client as long as it does not interfere with their allocation of reimbursible hours.

    I am in Wisconsin. Per Medicaid you cannot work more than 60 hours per week or more than 12 hours in a day or more than 6 days in a row and must have at least 8 hours break in between shifts. Hospital RNs have different regulations than private duty. I am just wondering if because even through the agency it is medicaid (only they are getting a cut before me), if those hours are counting towards the 60 as well as the private duty on my own.

    Can you call them and ask? Maybe someone would know on the WI board on this site. It's a good question. Makes me wonder if this will be a new trend. People will find ways around it, either by doing work with cases with other insurance or working a different job entirely. If you find the answer, or anyone knows, it will be interesting to know the answer.
