Hospitals and Nusing Residency Programs

Published

Hello all! I was wanting some advice from all of you about where to start my first job at. I live in the south but I am willing to relocate anywhere. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of any good pediatric RN residencies and some general info on them. I would love to work at a children's hospital...but a regular hospital w/ a good pediatric unit would be fine too. I am willing to relocate anywhere!! And am specifically interested in peds ICU.

Any recent graduates...where did you do your residency? Was it good? Any info will help me! thanks so much.

Children's national in Washington, DC. I'm there in the NICU now, month 4 of a 6 month orientation. They have 6 month new grad programs in the NICU/PICU/CICU. NICU is already interviewing and hiring for Next August, I'm not sure about when the other units start interviewing and hiring but the orientation program starts for all the units in August. They also offer 3 month orientations for all the other non-icu floors, and a 1 year orientation/internship in the ER. It's a very intensive but wonderful program, I am enjoying it a lot and learning so much. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Good luck :-)

I will also be working at Children's national in DC. I don't start my new grad program until next monday, though, for the medical care unit, and will be in orientation for 3 months. I am scared, but very excited! I will come back and let you know how it goes, though.

St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield Wisconsin has a 7 month nurse residency program for several units including PICU. They actually have a Seperate Children's Hospital inside the rest of the hospital.
