what is home care?

There is an Ob spot open for home care? Is this like home health or something else.........here is the websites description:

Utilizes the Nursing Process to practice professional nursing care, within an assigned area. Functions dependently, and interdependently, to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of her assigned patients, adhering to the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Maintains the knowledge and skills required to deliver nursing care in her assigned area. Supports the mission, values, and vision of Woman's Hospital. Participates in quality control activities and performance improvement of the organization. Participates in On Call responsibilities as scheduled. Responsible for consulting with referring physicians and using the nursing process to care for individual patients. so does it involve traveling like home health?

It can. Depends on where and how big an area you are covering. For example in a city/urban setting, you won't be traveling long distances, but may be required to go to various neighborhoods , some that are ok, others that are quite dangerous. IN rural areas, you will put a lot of miles on your vehicle doing the visits. I knew a HH nurse (She did OB and PP follow up visits) who traveled as far as 25-40 miles for her visits, including on Native American reservations. She loved doing this. Anyhow, you have good questions to ask at the interview or of the human resource person responsible for posting this ad.
