I am thinking of taking the CNOR certification, but I dont know where to start. I looked up on AORN website and I am not sure what books I need to start studying. Anyone who has recently undertaken this, could you please help me?? Where do I start??

The AORN books didn't help me (the practice test questions books)... Of course read the AORN Standards book backward and forth...I really liked the Mometrics CNOR practice question book though...good accurate practice questions. Good luck.

Hi meresanity, did you not buy Alexander book?? I will definitely look at the mometrics. Where did you get yours?? I will check Amazon out. Did you purchase the standards?? I was thinking of taking the AORN review?? Is that any good?? Or should I go to the instructor led one on the web/class??

I read Alexander's, and the Standards book...but they were at work, I used theirs. I did not take a class. Just read the books and did practice questions.

Thank you so much for you reply. One more question. How long did you prep and did you read both cover to cover

I pretty much did read everything cover to cover. I spent about 4 months prepping because I didn't want to pay for the exam twice.

Hey FF32, I'm Gabino from Wisconsin and I am currently studying for my CNOR exam that I have scheduled for November of this year. I'm also using MOMETRIX test preparation material. I have the CNOR practice questions, CCI CNOR exam app on my tablet, this comes with flashcards, practice exams. I'm also using another app on my phone called MOSBY exam prep. There is a 3rd app I'm utilizing called Super flashcard.com. I also have the 2013 AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices. 2 of my co-workers have taken the exam prepping with similar material and found it very helpful. As you probably know, the test is identifying with pre-op, intra-op, and post-op questions. I hope this info was helpful. If I can help in anyway, just drop me a line, thanks FF32

You and Msanity are awesome. I really appreciate your help. The thing is that I am originally from UK and I am not familiar with USA and hence the anxiety of prepping. I asked CCI and they said I will be eligible straight away because of my experience and me being licensed here. I have only started looking into it to increase my chances of getting better pay. I already have the qualifications of ORRN from UK but it will be good if I can get that here too. Gabino did you also read the Alexander??

Hey gabino, did you pay for the CCI and mosby?? I had a look and I think the free versions don't offer much. Please guide me!!

Hi, most of my material I purchased off of Amazon, like CNOR Exam Secrets study guide, CNOR practice questions, and Review of Perioperative Nursing, and I also reviewed my old school books like Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery. I found the Apps to be bonuses, more material, more potential test questions. The CCI Mosby app covers Perioperative assessment, what goes on Intraoperative, sterilization technique, and professional accountability. I know it's limited, but it compliments all the other resources I have. I have always over studied, probably not a good thing but it has worked for me so far :) I get info from wherever I can, even the free online CNOR exams. Thanks fusionfire32
