Does anyone know if a patient can be put on hold for an indefinite period of time for any reason while under home care? ie. waiting for physician's letter of medical need, or if a client frequently not keeping appt's.? Thanks

Why would you want to? Get them on service or do not. There is usually some kind of time lag in the process anyway. The sooner their paperwork is started, the sooner they can start receiving nursing care, and the sooner the agency can start receiving reimbursement. Why delay?

We dont place any pts on hold. We d/c unless it's a hospitalization or ALF at which time we do a transfer and if by chance they are able to resume services before the current cert period ends then we do a Roc. Otherwise if past thier cert period end date we do an entire new SOC with new orders and new #.
