I am new to this forum! I have been reading some of the threads here all week and i must say that, you guys are just great! I am getting so pumped to start in September! I am a bit nervous tho because i have been out of school for 6 years. I know i will have to study hard and just keep my eyes on the prize:nurse:. Hopefully, if everything goes well, i will be done in November 09! Good luck to all of you guys!
P.S. any of you in Philly? i am going to the Center of Arts and Techonology in Coatesville starting the 2nd of September! if so, give me an holler! lol!

good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanx Nathal! Any advices?
Not really since I'm pretty much in the same boat as you!!! I start in august and I'm really excited too but nervous because I don't know what to expect. All I can tell you is that same thing everyone else has told me, make school your #1 priority, never procrastinate on your studying and reading because the workload is so heavy that it is more likely than not that you won't be able to catch up! Also go into your first few days with an open mind and an optimistic attitude, regardless of the horror stories you may have heard...that will set the tone for your semester because no good comes from negativity. Finally, try to take things one step at a time, not allowing yourself to become easily overwhelmed (I know easier said than done!), choose your battles wisely and preserve your energy for the ones that really count; Meaning, don't get all bent out of shape over your score on every quiz that you think you should have aced because when you have a more serious situation that really demands attention you may not be taken as seriously....That's all I can think of for now. If I think of anything else I'll be sure to let you know!!!!
See you at the finish line!!!!!

I start in Sept as well (Sept 3 to be exact)! We can all support each other over the next year as we make our way to becoming nurses!!!

Welcome, and congrats on getting in. Don't feel bad about being out of school for six years. I had been out of school for about 14 when I went to Massage School. You will fall right back into it. The best advice I can give you is to take lots of notes, make note-cards, go through them every chance you get (between commercials, while waiting in line, etc). This may sound excessive but believe me you will actually learn better this way than trying to cram the night before a big exam. Also, go over your notes on a regular basis for the sessions you've already passed; that way the material stays fresh in your mind for finals and for the NCLEX. This is the way I studied throughtout Massage School and I graduated with high honors, and passed by state boards with all high scores. I plan on doing this through LPN class as well.
Thank you so much u guys for all the advices! U right about # 1 priority. In our orientation, We went about this topic for like a whole hour! she said to make sure we dont have any car notes or work full time. As for me, i am only going to work on the weekends to pay my bills. It's gonna be tough but i know, hopefully, it will pays at the end. i am 24 and not getting any younger so that should motivate me partly.

I hear you duranurse,
I just turned 34...have a little one starting kindergarten and a son going into seventh grade.
I am as nervous as heck. I start in August too. My orientation is August 11th.
Good luck everyone!!!
well, i guess i have no excuse huh? have no kids yet and dont have much bills! i really praise people who can handle school, kids and jobs at the same time! the only problem i might have is that my school is like 1 hour and 10 minutes away from where i live! I live in the East (Philadelphia) and i am hoping we dont have a bad winter this year! I guess i should get a tune up before school starts huh? yea that prolly be a good idea! any of you knows how much that would cost?

I live in Pa too! In the mountains no less
Ask a guy you know to do a tune up, all it is is new spark plugs and fluids and checking your oil filters and stuff. It's super cheap if you don't pay for it.
I just moved here from Texas and my school is 20 miles from here but for some reason takes forever to get to. Probably because I get lost on the way there. haha. I'm scared for the winter time driving through the narrow roads on the mountains.
