Herzing University

We are more expensive because we are a private school and get no funding from either the government or the state. You are absolutely correct that our BSN program is not accredited. Per the accrediting body, we cannot apply for accreditation until the first cohort starts their classes in Sept of this year. We don't add any classes to our program. If you are starting from scratch (no prior college experience), you can complete your BSN in 36 months which is much less than most schools. We don't say we are the only nursing school who requires these classes but we do say this is what our curriculum is which does differ from other schools. As far as the classes not transferring in, because it's a Bachelor Degree, you do have to have a certain level for classes to transfer in, which is no different that other schools.

As far as the TEAS test being re-scheduled, we have computer classes in the evenings so there are no classrooms available for the TEAS test. If our schedule is not convenient for you to take the test, you can certainly take it at another location and we will accept your scores as long as it's version V and you get the minimum score that we require.

I agree that each person needs to do their own research and find what school is best for them. However, when doing the research one of the most important things you need to look at is the NCLEX pass rate...ours is 100% as of 5/3/2012, which is much higher than the national average.

Thank you for the latest post about Herzing. It seems like a great school with a good staff. There is always going to be pros and cons about any school. What one have to look for is what works best for you. Herzing University seems like a great choice, especially with a passing rate of 100%.

Anybody who is reading this DO NOT attend this school!! Take it from a student's perspective .. They don't have a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX as of right now!! It is expensive!! You can go to a state college or university and receive the same or better education and it will be a lot cheaper!! They use Kaplan for their main standardized testing for each nursing course.. The instructors do not teach you anything coming from Kaplan!! If you don't pass your exit exam the first two times you take a remediation course that is a complete joke and waste of time!! The instructor doesn't teach you anything that you don't already know!! During remediation class one time we had to make a stupid video using the school's PRICE model!! I am sorry but, if you ask me that has NOTHING to do with a nursing school exit exam!! Complete waste of time!! If you plan on staying in the Orlando area you will have a very difficult time trying to get a job in a hospital!! Florida hospital and ORMC will not hire Herzing University graduates because they know that they have a bad reputation and don't have good clinical experience!! I could have gone back to Herzing University to get my degree after I didn't pass my exit exam but, I wouldn't have any clinical experience what so ever for a whole another year!! That doesn't look good from an actual true floor nurse perspective!! DO YOUR RESEARCH AND GET A NURSING STUDENTS PERSPECTIVE ON THE PROGRAM BEFORE YOU START!! If I would have known all this before I started I would have never gone to Herzing University in the first place!! Don't waste your time and money on this school!!

Also, I wanted to add that they allowed multiple people to appeal and take the mock or nursing school exit exam a fifth time. I appealed and they wouldn't let me take it a fifth time!! I am a very good student and work very hard!! Please do not go to this school its wrong what they are doing to the students!! They have a high instructor turnover rate! It's a shame that the instructors don't speak up and say anything!!

I attended HU for 2 years made it to nursing 4. It takes so long because if you have to retake a course you most likely have to wait 3 months to re-take it. They claim to have a graduation rate of 95%. Sounds great but that couldn't be further from the truth, maybe 95% of the poor souls that make it to take the nclex.

And if its non-profit why does it literally cost 4x more than most nursing programs ?

About 2 months into it you quickly find out that whole classes are failing and the actual pass rate is less than 10% cause legally they can use the nclex pass rate as a graduation rate.

Unless you were a super star in high school or college i wouldnt gamble to 25k+ Associates Degree or even double that for the BSN there which ormc or fl hospital wont hire you if its herzing.

Even the Dean of students not dean of nursing is a creepy power tripping maniac that used to be a chaplin. He's got like 9 Hatian children that he adopted that eat straight up chicken bones he says.

I knew over 65 people who attended with me and i can honestly tell you only 4 actually graduated. Its the gods honest truth, save yourself the horror and despair and tens of thousands of dollars.

The dean of nursing isnt professional either. After i failed out like pretty much everyone, i scheduled a appointment with the dean of nursing to sign some papers she was there but never showed up hat her office.

I had to hunt her down in the building after 45 minutes of patiently waiting near her office. Found out she was at the front office and waited another 30 minutes until i went up the secretary and said if you dont get her out here im going to go ape s*€$. Then she finally came out and let me sign one freaking paper. All that time when she could have sent out one of her minions to let me know she was running behind. The truth was she knew i was there to sign the withdrawl papers and student loan and government money wasnt going to be coming from me anymore so i didnt matter for that very reason.

Hi, I'm interested in the BSN program there and was thinking of enrolling into the program. Fortunately I saw a recent comment made regarding the program and will love to get more info from a student. I'm a good student and don't want get frustrated by the program. I don't understand private schools that use exit exam. That's so stupid to me. A quick feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't experienced anything wrong with this school. My advisor is so helpful and she even told me about all the fees from the beginning as well as a cheaper option for retaking a class I got a C in. I don't see what the problem is....

Can you share whether you know if Herzing has their sciences built into their Lpn to RN program? Also, what other options can I use to gain credit before applying? Maybe portage learning or straighterline? I am interested in this school, particularly the Birmingham Campus. Thanks in advance! 

I only have to retake A&P 1 which they are allowing me to take with my pharmacology nursing course.
