Helpful Tips for a new 3rd shift LPN @ a LTC

Specialties Geriatric

Published

i just finished my two week orientation at a local LTC in my area....rumors have it that my LTC is one of the hardest facility within the area. Next weekend, i will be on my own for the first time working the 3rd shift.....any advice????

I suggest going back and reading the similar posts/ questions on this subject. There are tons of them in this forum already. Some might say "new RN" Or "new LPN" but they all have great tips.

After you do that, come back and ask specifics of follow up.

One big piece of general advice.....treat the patient not the number. Look at the resident, open your eyes and really look and listen to them when you are giving them their pills. Don't forget to look at the big picture.

Listen to your CNAs when they are telling you something. They are your eyes.
