Helpful A&P Study Material

Published

For those that have already taken A&P classes, what kind of study material helped the most? I keep hearing about these coloring books? Which one do you recommend? Also, what other things were helpful? Are the Netter's Flash Cards worth it or is it just as easy to make your own? Anything else I am missing?

I am really trying to prepare myself as much as possible for this class.

Thanks in advance!!

Although I didn't personally use the coloring books, many of my classmates swore by them! What helped me the most was actually Cliff Note's Anatomy & Physiology. You can buy it here: http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Physiology-Cliffs-Quick-Review/dp/0764563734. It's only about $10 and well worth it! It broke all of the important information down into easy-to-understand terms. I found it very helpful to review before an exam. Also, my boyfriend surprised me with the Netter's flashcards but I really didn't use them much except for learning the bones. I found that they were MUCH more detailed than the information we needed to learn for my class. Those flashcards are directed more towards medical students, in my opinion. They almost made things more confusing for me.

I also found many resources on the internet. These two sites: http://www.getbodysmart.com/ and http://www.visiblebody.com/ were VERY helpful for me!

Good luck to you :) The class is actually extremely interesting and really isn't that bad. Best advice I can offer is to stay AHEAD. Review the power points (if you can) before class and read a chapter ahead. Everything makes so much more sense during the lecture that way!

I got straight A's in A&P I & II and I attribute that mostly to my coloring book, The Anatomy Coloring Book by Kapit & Elson. I am a visual learner, and coloring the different parts really made me remember their shapes, positions, etc. A lot of people say it's time consuming, but I'd color while watching TV or something, and it's a fun way to study (to me).

I also have several supplemental books that I would read for each section. Reading everything in different ways really helps me to really learn the information, rather than just memorizing.

My anatomy textbook suggested three different websites that I also used for each section.

I highly recommend everything I suggested here.. it really helped me (: Good luck!

I bought the anatomy coloring book but I never used it because I don't see what the point of it is. You can buy mine if you really want it. I made my own flash cards, made my own notes and study material. Read the lecture, study the textbook, make your own notes, repetition, you'll be fine.
