the one-year program you're referring to is actually the licensed practical nurse (lpn) educational track. to become a nurse practitioner, it will take 6 years (4 years for the bsn degree and 2 years of fnp school).

whatever you decide, be aware that the registered nurse licensure will provide you with more career mobility and higher earnings overall when compared to the licensed practical nurse career pathway. in my area, for every lpn job listed, there are five rn jobs listed. good luck!

Go for the Registered Nurse. On average they make 5 to 7 dollars more an hour and enjoy a wider variety of job opportunities.

Good luck!

go for the rn , easy way to decide is volunteer at a hospital and see the type of work lpn and rn and then you will know what you will be more comfortable with. Because time will fly by soon, heck i graduated h.s in 2000 still finnished up school after all this time long story but anyways rn is more $$$

definitely go for your rn.

much better pay and opportunities.

best of everything to you...
