I'm a little confused about type 1. My instructor said that a type 1 pt was given his medication, but didn't eat after. So he got hyperglycemia. But I keep thinking he would have been hypoglycemic. My reason for thiking that is type 1 are insulin dependent meaning they don't have much or any insulin. Sooooo when they take insulin and no food wouldn't that mean they have too much insulin taking up all the glucose? And wouldn't that be hypo? Thanks for any help. I wanna make sure I'm getting this

I'm thinking what you're thinking Clarify with your instructor, sounds like brain fart on him/her. Meds + no food = hypo not hyper.

Always ok to say, "Excuse me, I'm not sure I heard you correctly. Did you say, 'hyper-' or 'hypo-' ?"
