Help!

Hello

I'm very interested in nursing but I have no clue where I should start. I'm already very far behind, due to personal reasons, I didn't finish highschool but I've just received my GED. I don't know anyone in the nursing field or anyone studying to be a nurse so I have no help in understanding where I should start or what I should be doing. If anyone can give me advice on what I need to start on I would very much appreciate it.

You may find some helpful information in this forum, the Pre-Nursing Student forum.

As the saying goes, it's "never too late!"

I wish you the best as you explore whether nursing would be a good career for you.

You're not behind! Everyone is on their own journey- congrats on getting your GED!

Once you have the required minimum number of posts- you can use the PM feature. I would be happy to correspond with you and help you understand the maze! (Just go to a bunch of threads and make a brief comment like 'interesting' or something similar to get posts added to your total.)

But in the meantime, call up your local hospital, nursing home or doctor's office. Explain that you are interested in nursing, and would like to talk to a nurse. Tell them exactly what you posted here. Nurses are, by nature, helpers. There is certain to be someone out there who will help you in person.

Best wishes!

Thank you so much I would appreciate any help I can get, I'm extremely lost..

I suggest starting at your community college. Go there, take the placement tests and enroll in classes. Start with the basics that everyone needs, math and writing. Then start looking into nursing programs in your area. Your community college probably has one and check into any university's near you. They will have info on their school of nursing' s website about what the specific prereqs are. I'd be happy to help you figure it out if you share what city you are in?
