I worked as a CNA for three years then an LPN for one year and now have had trouble finding the RN position that I want.
I got a job offer from a nursing home which I reluctantly decided to accept. Reluctance came from the fact that the job offered no benefits and my current LPN position has full benefits plus 4k in tuition assistance and 6 weeks of paid time off per year. However, I thought it was better to have a true RN position under my belt for when I go to apply elsewhere.
So this morning I call and explain that I want to push my start date back one week. The DON said that I was jerking her around and if I am not there to start at 7am then I won't have a job.
I couldn't believe her attitude. I was so shocked on the phone. Would you stick it out and give up your benefits and go work there just for the experience or say no way??
I should mention that at this point I have applied for over 250 jobs and had only 2 interviews in the last 4 months.
