So yeah im currently in college and my major is undecided because i cant pick between nursing and sonography. Im etremely interested in sonography because i love all that imaging and ultrasounds but at the same time im also interested in nursing. Im scared that i wont find a job or get paid well if i go into sonography. But i still dont know about nursing because i know it can get really heavy and a crazy schedule plus im not to sure i want to clean people, especially old ones. I just cant do that so thats a negative side about nursing. Maybe im wrong in way of thinking about nursing but thats why im askiing for advice. Help Please!!!!

Well if you already know you "just can't do" a significant portion of what makes up bedside nursing, that pretty much answers the question.

This really isn't a decision anyone else can make for you.
I am not familiar with the ins/outs of "sonography" but.. if I were you - this is what I would do.
Find the type of facility you would want to work at in the sonography field. Call the manager. Explain you are a student considering sonography. Would you be able to speak with her or a sonographer for a short interview about the position?
Do the same thing in the nursing field. The nursing field is diverse. There are hospital nurses, nurses in doctor's offices and clinics, school nurses, nurses at health departments, nurse educators, nurse managers. There are even nurses on cruise ships and in Disneyland! We are a very diverse field. It isn't always blood and guts and poo.
Only you know what is best for you.

Forgot to add..
When you do go to interview.. bring a short list of questions such as:
Why did you go into this field?
What do you like best? Worst?
What do you do at work?
Any advice for someone considering this field?
Job opportunities available?

Look under the Specialties tab on this board. There are SO many branches of nursing. Now I think what is reasonable to point out is that nursing deals, for the most part, with bodies that aren't working properly. And when bodies are not working properly they excrete stuff out of orificies. Tears, snot, vomit, blood, pee, and poop. Not only that but stuff that is on or in the body that is causing illness - bacteria, virus, etc. Chances are good that if you are a nurse in any specialty you are going to come into contact with something kind of "gross" on a regular basis. I doubt that you would doing sonograms. You have to decide for yourself if you think you can handle it.

Let me ask you, what attracts you to nursing? From what you understand, what do you believe that the field of nursing entails? Some people enter nursing school based on misperceptions, for example, what is seen on TV. As others have said, it would be a good idea to interview someone who has been a nurse for a few years, or better yet, find a program in which you can shadow a nurse.
