Ok, I've had 2 peds tests and an ave. of 75.2 and 3 od tests with an ave. of 75.5 (thanks to a 70 today that I was sure I could have done better). We have a peds test wed., then the finals next wed. (worth 10%) of the grade. We need at least a 75% to pass. Any ideas what to do to do better? The teacher more or less reads thru her powerpoints and stresses certain areas and I try to study those, but some of her questions are of the wall. I tried going thru the n-clex questions at first, but that did'nt help. There is just too much to read it all from the book. Last semester I got all 80s and above with studying less. I'm really starting to stress, because 1 bad grade and I wont't pass (we have to pass both plus clinicals to go on). Then thers adult care the last 2 months, but I think I'll do ok in that.

What are you doing to study right now? And are you not getting the concepts or are you struggling with the critical thinking?

there are rough times, i hope that you get into the swing of things .sometimes you just have to learn what the instructors wants best of luck
I think more the critical thinking. The questions are multiple choice and there are usually two "right" answers and I'm just picking the one that is not as "right" now. But there is some much information too. Today I made stupid mistakes. For ex. for some reason I was thinking lochia serosa was bright red and lochia rubra was dark red. I missed 2 questions because of that and I thought the uterus was supposed to be hard after delivery, but I guess its not unless you massage it. I forgot to mention, I spent about 8 hours yesterday working on pharm homework that I thought was part of our test grade (we had a test in there today too. Come to find out, its not, and does'nt get counted in uless you get a 78%. I already did a big paper for peds and we did an oral report also which does'nt count unless you get a 75 ave. on the tests.

Just review AND REMEMBER Maslow's Hierarchy and you will get it every time! I am in my 2nd qtr of nursing (6 qtr program) and this is the trouble that I was having last qtr! GOOD LUCK!
Well I bombed the last peds test-my worst grade I've got all year, even with some hw bonus thrown in and I studied more than I ever had. I don't know what the deal is. I think maybe I'm trying to go over too much and focusing on the main condition or what it is and not the nursing interventions and signs and symptoms. I now need to get at least a high 70 on the final, maybe a high 80 if I don't do well on the nclex review. I have 6 days to study, think I'll take some time off work because its now or never. Good news is the instructor gave us some hints what will be on the final, first time this semester, probly because over half the class is failing right now. The instructor also said I could go in to go over what I missed on some of the previous tests.
