Help!!

I am now in the third week in chemistry and it is just not sinking in. We are changing formulas to words and words to formula's. Thought I understood it until we took a quiz. Does anyone know of any sites that will show me how to do this. Maybe a site that says "chemistry for dummys!". I have to pass this course in order to progress in my program.

HELP!!!!

Oh gosh, you took me back to the days of chemistry that made me cringe and crazy. I do not know if it is available to you, but when I was in college, I could not grasp the concepts of chemistry and I got help with the student union in finding a tutor, and it was well worth it. They also had study aids to help with remembering those pesky elements and formulas.... That is how I survived and actually pulled my Flunking grade to a "B" Good Luck to you I would rather take a beating then deal with Chemistry again......

Try chemistry.about.com I don't know if you will find exactly what you are looking for but they do have a lot on chemistry.

Brandy,

Right now there are two things that I don't understand. How you take a number formula and turn it into words. Example: Write the correct formula for Fe3+, HPO2-/4.

The other is how to take the word formula and change it into a number formula. Example: Write the correct formula for selenium trioxide.

This is so aggrevating!!!!! I feel like telling my professor, just give me a C and send me on my way!!!:o

I dont know why that link wouldnt work... I will keep looking.

I'm so bad in chem, it's not even funny, but I do know the answer to these!

Fe3+ is Iron III

HPO2-/4 is hydrogen phosphate

Selenium trioxide is SeO3 - I think cause the d-electrons take part in the bonding...

To be honest, I don't remember the rules to nomanclature - I think it just takes a lot of practice. I can go through my old book and see if I can sum up whatever is says if you'd like, so just let me know.

Brandy, tried to open that site and it won't let me...any ideas?

Thanks

Essarge,

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to get everything down for you, but I promise I will post a summary sometime tomorrow - hope you don't mind the wait...
