Help with Salary Request

Specialties Home Health

I had an interview with a home health agency. I am a new grad and they want to hire me. They not only want me as an RN though, but because of my background with sales and marketing they want me to help with that as well. Also, since their DON is leaving to start her residency at the end of this month the owner asked if I would be interested in being trained to become the RN Supervisor over the next six months. First question, does this seem like an okay thing for a new grad (I have my doubts, although I know I could do it, nursing was not my first career). Second, what do you think would be a good salary to ask for? She is paying on an hourly basis?

Thanks!!!

What part of the country are you in? As a FT RN New grad in a hospital pay ranges from 25-30 dollars and hour. I think that if you get 28$ and hr as a new grad that is good. Also if you get trained as a supervisor and would ask for a raise then. These numbers are more for southern California. (from my experience) Home health I have only done perdiem and i get 60$ oer follow up visit and 100$ for new patient.

Run- how can a new grad be a nursing supervisor? This sounds unsafe. Watch your back or shall I say your license!

Don't become the Sup so fast. you need time to work as a staff nurse for at least a year. Doesn't mean you can't learn other duties in your free time during that year. Salary - no idea. What state are you in? What city?

What would you think if someone offered you a supervisory position in an ICU or a med-surg department or a surgical setting? I dare say that you wouldn't feel qualified. The same is true for home health. Forgive my bluntness, but you don't have the experience to be a good home health nurse yet, never mind being a supervisor. You need to start at the bottom and work your way up so that you understand home health before you can direct others in their practice. Run far from someone who "compliments" you by setting you up to fail.
