Hello fellow nurses I am in send I need to pick something to write about in regards to disparities in Healthcare.. I need to have some evidence in the paper but I need some help with a topic ?? I am very lost as to what to write about

Start with what you like. Do you have an area of nursing you want to go into? Like cardiac or psych or L&D? If so, look up articles on CINAHL (nursing research database, go to your school library website to get in) about racial, gender, socioeconomic or other disparities in that area. We have disparities all over healthcare, especially the US.

If you don't have a special interest yet, then pick something around a topic that is difficult for you, or a topic that you are studying in another class, a topic that you are about to be tested on, need to write a paper on, etc. I call this cross-studying. Learning about disparities in diabetes education, will help you understand diabetes better, even if that seems like a stretch. Learning about disparities in access to anti-hypertensive medication, will help you understand anti-hypertensive meds better, or at least help you remember the names of meds.

This is an important topic. Don't treat it like busy work. In fact, make every assignment the fullest learning opportunity you can make it.

ICU Delirium Prevention is a recent research topic especially as it can increase length of stay and likely cause PTSD. Many recent articles on this and proposals for Delirium prevention protocols. see link:

Anecdotal only.

I know a woman who was critically ill and septic more than thirty years ago when she was in her forties.

I went with my Mom to visit her. he was confused and restless asking us to, "Get the dogs and cats from under her bed."

I looked under the bed and told her, "There are no animals under the bed. There are lots of noises here that you could mistake for dogs and cats."

I saw her last Christmas. She told me, "I know there were no dogs and cats under my bed when I was so sick in the hospital.

But I am still mad at you for siding with the nurses against me."

PTSD?
