Just wanted to let you know that I moved your thread to the distance learning forum in the hopes that you will receive more responses. Good luck.

The only suggestions I have are: Get the free content guides from excelsior either by down loading or by mail. By the books used look up and study the things that are on the content guide Know them well. Go to yahoostudygroups.com and nontradnurses, join and use there files sections for notes and study tips as well as the message boards for support and to ask questions. For me I needed a study bud to help keep me motivated. If possible find someone you work with or otherwise know and see if they will go through the program with you. Spazzy, Chis, Laura and many others here are a great source of info and support. Good luck

Hi Carol. You can do it, and you don't need College Network or any other publishing company. The best study guides are the ones from Excelsior. I took A&P, Micro and NC 1, 3 and 4 in a little more than a month and made a B on every one of them. I'm preparing to take NC 5 this week. I thought I would be able to waive NC 2 so I skipped that one (but it turns out if you graduated from a school in Tennessee you won't qualify for the waiver) Anyway, after this week I'll have Lifespan and NC 2, 6 and 7 to take, and I am hoping to be finished in the next month or so.

Good luck to you.

Hello...

It is possible to complete the program in a year. I had all of my generals finished through my local CC. I started the NC exams in October of 2003 and took my last NC in July 2004. I then had to wait until January 2005 to take my CPNE...I passed it a few weeks ago. I did not have my name on a cancel list to take the CPNE earlier because of the holidays and everything. If you get on a cancel date you could have maybe a 3 months wait or less. I believe you can be on all the CPNE sites cancel list. I advise to take the free content guides for each exam from excelsior and buy some general nursing books. Use the content guides to look up the info required for the exam in the text books. I think a good Fundamentals (like Kozier), med-surg, peds, etc should do. I also have a great book with a little of everything in it called Lippencott's manual of nursing. Buy a good NCLEX review guide to supplement questions and use to look up the content. The excelsior practice exams are really good too! I am awaiting my graduation date in March and will take the first available NCLEX exam date that will work for me...so besides the waiting all I have left is to study for the NCLEX. I also maintained a 3.77 GPA during the entire thing with excelsior...so it can be done with determination. If you are not self motivated you will find this extremely difficult.... God Bless and good luck,

Kim
