I have a problem. can anyone advise me? Im looking for somewhere I can go to find out what I can do about a problem I had at work. I made an error. No harm was done and the patient turned out fine. But my supervisor took me to human resources and suspended me. They said i didnt follow policy. My supervisor excorted me to my locker to get my purse. It was so humiliating bacause every one was staring at me. She didnt allow me to give report. she didnt even let me fill out an incident report for the error. she said she would take care of it. she took me to lab to do a drug screen because they felt like I was forgetfull because I didnt follow policy. At the lab they made me urinate in a specimen cup with the lab lady watching me. She took me to a bathroom with blue coloring in the comode and no sink. There is no way I could have cheated on the urine test. But she stood and looked at me while i urinated. After she had her specimen she still stood there while I finished urinating. can i do anything about this?

Seek legal counsel would be my best advice. I wish you well....I am sorry.

the only right I know of ,here in the lone star state, is the right to go work somewhere else , Sad isn't it.

I plan to travel again in a few years, looks like Texas and Kentucky are not on my list.

Find an attorney that specializes in work ethics. I would also contact civil liberties. Document everything, write it down so you have a reference when you are giving what happened to an attorney. Dates, times, spoken words, behaviors etc. Just the facts then add feelings later, makes for a better presentation. I know you should not have to do that, but as a professional you are expected to be able to do that. It will make a better first impression.

Something is missing here. As for the urine test, "eye on the meatus" is protocol. There are other medical problems besides chemical dependencies that can render you unfit to work. Before any nurse is escorted off the floor, he/she must have really raised some antennae because you practically have to fall to the floor before an addiction problem is uncovered. You certainly deserve an explanation of what behaviors made them suspect you along with an offer of help. Contact your state nurse's association.

what was the error?
