help for new adon

:bugeyes:Hi all, I'm an LPN for 15 years just took a job as adon in a ltc facility. any advise out their for me. I'll admitt I'm a little nervous. I've done alot of different kinds of nursing including lpn charge in LTC and DON for a assisted living. But not really sure what I'll be doing even after DON gave me a list. The list didn't really sound like much to me, yet confusing. Please any advise will be appreciated.

Can you be a little more specific as to what is on your list? Definately one thing to remember would be to not forget what it was like to be a nurse out there doing med pass, wound care, etc. Be willing when short staffed to put your scrubs on and help out. Lead by example. Good luck in your new role.

Congratulations on your new job. I am a DON in a LTC center. My ADON is an LPN and she is awesome. Our facility is small - 66 beds. She is in charge of the restorative nursing program, labs, infection control. She does help on the floor when we are short staffed. She makes rounds with the doctors and makes sure they are visiting as required and have their progress notes in the charts. She stays busy. You will have to just take it day by day and be willing to be flexible with whatever comes up. Life in LTC is not easy, but it is rewarding. Good Luck.

thank you for the replies and advise...I start tomorrow and will just take it one day at a time and be flexible...I have always been willing to help anyone in every job I've done so being flexible and doing whatever needs to be done sounds like a winning plan...thanks all....have a great week
