Help with Math for nursing

I need to take the compass to see what classes I need to take before I can apply for the nursing program at the college near me. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to study for the math, I have always been terrible at math but I know a nurse is what I want to be.If I could get pointers or a good web sight for teaching I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks to whom ever can help

it really depends on how you learn -- what works best for you.

i took the gre a few years ago, and it had been over 10 years since i had taken a math class (calculus my first semester of college).

needless to say, i didn't really remember much trig, geometry or even any algebra beyond the basic algebra we use all the time in nursing.

i bought some math review cd roms. they are interactive and have a "lecture" component along with quizzes that have answers/rationales. they worked great for me in refreshing my math knowledge.

that sounds like the sort of thing you need -- to have your knowledge refreshed. it probably won't teach you math that you have never learned, but should review thing well enough for you that you won't be stuck retaking a class that you don't need.

i think i found the cds at costo or sams club or somewhere like that, and they weren't very expensive. there were several in the set, and went from jr high level math all the way up to calculus.

ehh...not sure exactly what kind of math is on the compass test (I didn't have to take one), however, I did find this site on a search that could prove helpful. While I was quickly looking over these the one about halfway down the page titled "Drug Dosage Calculations" which is a pdf file looked decent for nursing type questions.

Also if you need a resource for doing drug calculations a book called "Calculate with Confidence" by Deborah Gray Morris was what we used while in school and really did do a pretty good job of explaining how to figure out drug calculations. Hope this helped a bit.

i to have had some trouble with math, i found on the internet a program you can download for 14 days free and then you can purchase it if you like after that. i have purchased it and it has done wonders as well as help from others on this site.

it is called nursing calculations by a company called educational innovations[color=#333366] and the e-mail is www.educinnov.com.au.
