Help! I am very dizzy

Yes, Splenda has been tested "literally to death" and has been found to cause a host of problems. It was thought that the Chlorine added to it is fairly inert (after all, table salt has chlorine in it) and not metabolized by the liver, but studies have shown that some people are, in fact, metabolizing the Chlorine (one study done in Japan found that up to 40% of people that were in the study metabolized it and experience a bizarre range of adverse effects). Many people have found some of their symptoms are mimicking Multiple Sclerosis and/or Vertigo.

Is there any chance you've stopped taking any meds recently like an SSRI (Paxil)?

I have tried out Splenda on 6 different occasions (I tried it so many times because I just couldn't believe that this would be the cause of it) and each time I became very dizzy and had peripheral neuropathy. This is just my own personal experience with it.

I have Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, which is basically what someone in an earlier post was talking about....calcium deposits in your ear get into the wrong place and everytime you move you head the room spins HARD. It is terrible and I completely understand. I have suffered with vertigo for most of my life and after hours and hours and months of research after one particularly bad spell (lasting a month!!!) and no Drs could help me, I found out about the Elpy procedure (someone mentioned this already too) and it has been a lifesaver for me; without it I would be in bed. Don't rely on a general practitioner to help...they won't...even some ENTs dont seem to be very educated about inner ear disorders and they can be hard to diagnose exactly what the problem is since there are so many.

Good luck and hang in there. A lot of people with inner ear disorders, especially anything with dizziness or vertigo suffer from anxiety because your body is so confused as to what is going on.

Oh, one last word about the Elpy or other procedures....they will bring on the vertigo so be prepared for that, have someone with you to help you out, I felt sick for hours afterwards and wanted to vomit but the procedure totally worked for me and put the crystals back in their place....now when I feel even a little vertigo I do the Elpy (you can do it at home...I do) I do it and it stops the vertigo.

Marilyn...thank u so much for your info. I loked at the video's. Since u have been doing this, how would I do it with a left ear problem? The same as the video, or starting differently. Again, thank u so very much. I never realized this vertigo was such a common problem.

I once had unexplainable dizziness and the medial professionals could not link it to anything. I began noticing that chemicals were doing this to me. Take note of cleaners you are around, fumes, perfumes (perfume is the worse) etc. When I started avoiding chemicals surrounding my life, I began to feel better. Also, I take natural supplements which have helped tremendously with energy levels. Hope this helps! I can go on and on!

I apologize for being a bit off topic but that post about a Japanese study about Splenda sounds quite interesting if it is true. But I guess we aren't going to get that link. Everything I read about it says Splenda should be completely harmless. It doesn't cause cancers even in really high doses, doesn't seem to have any known metabolites, and has been used in multiple countries for years and years with nothing. I'm not exactly pro-artificial sweetener, either, but it came down to a choice between being obese (with all its known risks) and giving up sugar drinks for those with Splenda... seemed like a reasonable choice to me, and I'm down forty pounds as a result.

About 3 weeks ago I woke up with severe vertigo. Never had anything like it before. Was put on a anti-inflammatory and Antivert. Stayed home for a few days util I could navigate again. Now, this morning, I am dizzy (not as bad as it was). I have had a EKG, lab tests, no sign of ear problems, no pain, no head-ache, blood pressure is fine.

Have any of u ever had this??? what did u do??? A lot of people are saying its stress related.

In addition to a cardiac workup, i would strongly suggest a neuro workup as well. Change in hearing out of one ear? Still dizzy? In addition to the possibility of vertigo, also sounds like it could be s/s of acoustic neuroma (benign tumor on the eighth cranial nerve). Can be diagnosed with an audiogram and MRI.. Let us know how things are going.. Hope your feeling better soon!
