Help me help you.......

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a masters thesis focusing on nursing documentation and I was hoping you could help me out. I need examples (ie. sentences) of nursing documentation. I've created some myself, but admittedly my vocab is a little small considering I haven't worked bedside in 5+ years.

To help me collect this info I've created an online database - http://ndep.stemos.com .

The process is really dead simple - there is a form on the website with two fields you need to fill out. The actual sentence and the type of sentence you've entered (choices are observation, diagnosis, intervention & outcome). That's it. Feel free to enter what ever you want - as long as it is realistic.

If you can spare 2, 5 or even 10 minutes that would be appreciated. My goal is to collect 1000 examples in the next 20 days.

If you want to learn more about why I'm doing this goto http://ndep.stemos.com/collect/about or http://dev.stemos.com/projects/thesis/wiki/index.php/Why_this_is_important

Thanks - and feel free to send this to any of your nursing friends!

Robin

PS - I appologize to all those expecting something to do with Jerry McGuire (The "help me help you" is a quote from the movie). My second choice - "Please do some free work for me so I can complete my thesis" didn't seem as appealing.

In the end I do expect this to "help" all nurses everywhere - so it's not completely untrue :-)

Hi Again,

Thank you for all the kind words - and thanks to all of you who have submitted samples thus far.

It's been almost 24 hours and already 43 new posts to the database (bringing the total to 274). So far the ones I have seen have been fantastic. I'd forgotten just how many acronyms there were in the documentation (examples, see http://ndep.stemos.com/collect/show/id/309 and http://ndep.stemos.com/collect/show/id/312 - they forced me to think harder than I wanted to).

Please feel free to keep submitting. And also - if you have any suggestions on how I might market this via other forums / lists please let me know (Or feel free to circulate the links).

@Rayrae - you are more than welcome to check back on a daily basis. It did make me think that potentially I could implement a "new today" or "new this week" feature which could be sent via email..... We'll have to see.

Again, thank you all and happy charting. :)
