Help!!!! Failed the teas 6

Hey QueenDanii79! I used the TEAS manual to help me study. The test was HARD but I feel like i was very prepared after studying with the manual. There are practice tests for each section and it goes through all the material you should know for the TEAS. Good luck!

Here is what I did... I walked out with an 86.4% on my first try.

I bought the teas 5 study guide (not 6). I skimmed each section and marked the sections I didn't feel confident in. Then I went back to each section and made flash cards to study from. Break each section down into bite sized chunks.... not more than 1-2 sentences per flash card (I find this much more effective than an entire paragraph on a flash card). I paid special attention to anything in bold or italics. I used binder clips and binder rings to organize the flashcards by subject / topic. Doing that for the entire book took me several hours.

Then I jumped in... I grabbed a section and flipped through the flashcards in that section (not subject like math, science, reading but

.. section like cardiovascular system, muscular system, verbs, fractions, etc...) until they were memorized. Then I moved onto the next section, making sure to go back and review what had been memorized already occasionally.

I got other study books from the library, but used them mainly for their practice tests. I took as many practice tests as in could find, including the 2 purchased from ATI.

I studied about 2 hours a day for a month prior to the test. I also have kids (4 ages 9,7,6,2) and that's all I could manage.

don't feel bad. I too failed the test two months ago. sad thing is i have to wait til next year to re take the exam. Im on remediation and need to study a full year before taking the exam again. Im starting to break down each section and watching crash course on youtube the areas i have trouble with. we also have prep courses that cost $200 for each section for a 2 day course I'm hesitant to sign up due to price being high and not much feedback about the classes. let me know how your studying is going for you.

Hey. I haven't started studying yet again.. I decided to give myself a 2 week break from it. I took the first test April 21.. so I'ma start studying really soon. I do know about the crash course videos on YouTube and I purchase the ATI study manual and the mometrix study manual I also have a report science book and Adam and Physiology from about 5 years ago so I'm going to use those sources plus Khan Academy. I did reschedule the test and it is for August 11th so I'll have about a good three months I'm hoping to get this right. Because if I don't pass it this go around then I will have to wait a year and I really don't want to do that. So as I stated I'm going to start soon and with My Crazy Life 2 hours a day up until the day of August 11th.

Here's what helped me get my 87.3: Quizzing myself through the TEAS Mastery and Pocket Prep TEAS apps. There's a bit of a strategy for taking these standardized exams and a great deal of it is getting used to HOW questions are asked. Essentially, these apps (and others like them) are giant practice tests that are a bit more difficult than the exam themselves. If you find yourself doing well on these after a little practice, this is an indication that you're in a good place in regards to how well you'll do on the exam.

Second, (and truthfully maybe even the MOST important) is that they give you an idea of what you DON'T know, and a starting point for what to study. This can make your life soooo much easier because what you usually gets most people (I took the TEAS V the first time and barely scored proficient) is that these tests can seemingly ask dang near anything, so it's important to know just a little bit about all the body systems, a little basic chem (electrons and the periodic table), and a tad bit of bio/life science. Focus mainly on anatomy for the science since that's the majority of that part of the test. Quiz yourself on grammar and practice the math to get the refresher you need, since those are areas everyone seems to have a vastly different amount of experience with.

Mometrix.com has great practice tests as well! Even if that class isn't one to one, I'd suggest it if possible. Like I said, the biggest thing that will help you for these exams is that constant drilling of questions. I would take practice quizzes and then write down the topics of the questions I missed and study them. Maybe if possible (and I know you have younger kids and it's muuuch easier said than done) find a chunk of time and let the 17 yr old watch the kids for a bit so you can sit down and crank this stuff out? Making time is difficult for these tests bc it's like they're geared towards the 20 yr college sophomore with all the time in the world and no obligations, but spending time really concentrating on studying for the TEAS (and the HESI as well) is pretty much how this they're conquered.

Out of curiosity, have you taken any prereqs yet? I know for me the TEAS 6 was easier bc I'd taken A&P 1. They're also made for ppl that have had those courses.

I know it seems super difficult, but where there is a will, there is a way! Believe me! You've got all of AN behind you!

I honestly just used the book that they offered. I'm not sure if it does, but if you go online, I believe it tells you what parts you need to improve on. So if you need to improve on your A&P, but your chemistry is fine, focus on the A&P. By all means if you have time, it wouldn't hurt to scan over the chemistry portion as well. The book also has practice questions and I believe the rationale as to why the choice is correct.

Hey @Mkakids, congratulations on your results. I see you used the study guide 5 as reference but did you take exam 5 or 6?

Congratulations on your score and passing. I did wind-up signing up for the review classes which start in June every Tuesday and Thursday for the month of June and I also went out and I had to purchase the book that the instructor uses.I think my biggest faults was the last time I tried to cram everything in within 13 days and with my busy schedule it just wasn't happening. I took A&P 1 about five or six years ago and the big thing about everything is I actually was in nursing school but I had to withdraw due to babysitting issues and then when I wanted to go back everything changed and now I have to take this test and so on and so forth but I'm ready now. I just have to gradually and slowly take at least two to three hours a day and do it.. I already know it's going to be hard due to the fact that I work overnights full-time 5 days a week. So now I have a A&P science book I have the mometrix book, the actual teas ATI study guide plus the videos that they show online Khan Academy crash course and a whole bunch of nurses CNA family and friends that you want to see me win.. and I told myself starting Monday which is tomorrow, two to three hours a day is what I'm giving it. I'm giving it my all so I really hope that giving it my all this time I get that 80 or above mark to get me into nursing school.. finding the time is of the essence for me because I do lead a very busy life but I have to be dedicated 4 this which I plan on doing and just give it one year full dedication doing any and everything I have to do so that I can win in the end.

hey! Don't be sad. It happens. I failed the first Teas test because I did not study much, but by listening to everyones suggestions, what I am doing now to study is I orederd the teas practice tests online from the ATI store and I took one of them before starting to study to know where I was having trouble in. I am now paying more attention to the things I am having trouble in more than the other things. Buy the ATI study guide and study off of that. For more info, Use quiz let, khan academy and momentrix. Hi everyone, I just took the TEAS6 exam and failed miserably. Why? because I couldn't keep up with the time for each sections. Does anyone know where I can do the teas6 exam without it being timed? I only have one more chance and I am studying every day. Please help. Thanks.
