I'm supposed to interview a nurse manager in an acute care setting, however I don't know any acute care nurses! Anybody want to be interviewed?
These are the questions:
What are the greatest challenges as a manager?
What are the special qualities a manager should have?
What are the responsibilites of the job?
What input do they have in recommending hires or equipment or changes?
When a change is ordered or required by their institution, what methods do they find helpful as managers to use to help staff conform and change?
When identifying a problem with a staff member, what techniques or methods dothey use, for example a 'just culture' or direct discipline? When a corrective action plan is required, what role do they play? If they can procide you with example situations it may be helpful for your insight.
How does the individual participate in quality improvement activities?
Is there any special training neded for the position they are in?
Do they have to serve on specific committees, attend meeting and how often?
How are they evaluated (type and time frame)?
what special types of organization information do they need to now in order to carry out their job? Example-- union contracts, culture of the organization.

The purpose of this assignment is to seek out an acute care nurse manager and have a conversation with her. Call a hospital in your town and ask to be transferred to an inpatient unit... then ask to speak with the nurse manager. He or she may be perfectly willing to set up a time for you to come in.
I live in a very small town, and asked two, neither of which said they had time...
