Hello

Hi everyone. I am new to this and had a question about Safe Harbor. How do I use it? I work on an ICU Stepdown (or PCU) where the nurse to patient ratio is 4 or 5 to one depending on staffing. It is a Neuro/Renal Stepdown so our patients are usually heavy with hight acuity. 5 patients are plenty to keep you busy. Lately on weekends they have tried dogging us with 6 or 7 patients each. One charge nurse made the comment "Welcome to nursing" when someone asked about the heavy load. I feel as though this is quite dangerous and risking my license (I'm an LVN by the way in the Dallas area). So if I wanted to use Safe Harbor, what exactly do I do? I have been a nurse for about 10 years and was a nursing assistant for 3 1/2 years before that.

Torry - I am not too sure you will get the answer you want in this forum. Try the legal forum - they might have a better idea. Afraid I can't help being from across the pacific,
