Hello fellow nurses,
I am recent graduate of my RN BSN in February 2010. I currently work in BC (lower mainland). Have a full time line as medical float RN. I am looking to move to Edmonton Alberta and wondering if any nurses from there would be able to offer me any direction and answer some of my MANY questions!
Thank you for your time :)
A.

If you have a job, and a full time one at that, I would suggest you stay put.

DO NOT MOVE! Wait until the job situation gets better. Most of us all over the country (myself included) are fighting for casual positions and you have FT.

OK, I'll bite. I work in Edmonton.
Have you done any research on Alberta Health Services? There is still a hiring freeze on new hires. Yes, that would be you.
Roughly 50% of last years new RNs and LPNs couldn't find work be it in active treatment, LTC or anywhere. Those who did find work found small part time positions or casual slots.
The weather, do you want to live in winter for six months of the year???
Stay employed where you are. Why anybody would join the sinking ship that is AHS is beyond many of us here.
