Hello all! My name is Michelle. I am new to the boards in general. I just thought I would introduce myself, since I will be lurking quite often. I am completely facinated with everything involving OB/Gyn, L&D and even NICU nursing. That is my goal (and dream) when I become an RN, to work with mothers and newborns

Just thought I might elaborate a little on my bio...I am attending a community college here in Pa. This will be my second semester there. Just doing my general classes right now and plan to get into the 2011 nursing program at the school. I graduated from high school/tech school in 2003, but majored in Horticulture (plants, trees & flowers) as I wanted to be a taxidermist (one who mounts dead wildlife to make them look alive again...lol). But along the way there were one too many hurdles that shattered that desire. I took quite a bit of time trying to decide on a career that was affordable and logical and that I would love doing. I had looked into majoring in Equine science or Equine business management as I have tons of experience with horses (that was my original plan since I was 10) but I would have to move to Philadelphia-area to attend school. I was not ready to move for the next 4 years of my life. So, I thought about it more. Then one day I was on my way to get some labs done and walked by the nursery in the hospital....and it hit me like a rock! Look into becoming a nurse in L&D! So I did and here I am! Through looking into the different areas of L&D nursing, I decided that I really want to do NICU nursing. This summer I am going to contact a large hospital in my area to see about being a volunteer in their NICU. Whatever they need me for in there (or L&D) I will do! :lol2:
