Definately agree with waiting until Fall for the A&P. Is there any other co-req or pre-req you can take?

Hi Katie...I went back to school 9 years after graduating college the first time so I know what you mean. I had taken all business courses so I had to start in A&P and all that "fun" stuff too! I was scared--scared I'd be the oldest person in my class and just crazy stuff. Study hard, make time to read ahead, and sit in the front. Ha! That's my advice.

I have no advice about the TEAS. Here's a link that might help. http://testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm I took the NLN which I am still waiting to hear my results on that. I'm a bit frazzled to say the least (the VERY LEAST) but I know that site has a TEAS practice link.

Thanks for the site. The TEAS seems so hard, some of the info. on there requires anatomy classes. O well, I dont know why they would require such a test for admittance. Im planning on studying for weeks to prepare for the test, I really need to score well. Do you know the difference between a diploma program v. an associate degree in nursing? Which is better?

I dont have any other pre reqs. I have already taken Nutrition, Psych, Developmental Psych., Englishes. All I have left is A&P 1 &2 and Micro.

katiem- you are not almost a pre-nursing student... You are a pre-nursing student! Check to make sure you have the prereqs required for A&P and micro (some schools require Bio I & II and Chem I & II)

haha yeah I guess I am a pre-nursing student. There are no pre. reqs for those courses. Just 3 left, but I may have to take the psych's over due to the length of time that has passed since I took them--they like you to have taken the classes within the last 7 years. The director told me usually with psychs they are more lenient and they will accept them. And she told me not to take any classes unless they tell me. I get frustrated that I really need to start school and I cant start nursing until Fall 2008 due to lack of availability! But, Im keeping the goal in sight :)

Yeah, as far as psych goes I can almost guarantee that you won't have to retake those. The limits usually only apply to science courses. Some schools are 5 years, some are 7 and some are 10 (as I checked stats from different states since I was considering leaving Chicago). And the director is right- only take what is requested of you. I don't think enough pre-nursing students utilize the help offered to them from the staff. I scheduled a pre-advising appointment, then a second pre-advisement appointment, lol. Ask as many questions as you have on your list. I actually (and I know this is kind of obsessive) have a template for 1.) Questions I have about the nursing program, and 2.) Everyone's suggestions on this forum as to my 1st years nursing supplies and needs. Whenever I read something on here (as this is the only forum I truly respond to out of the 5 or 6 that I've joined) that rings a bell with any topic I have a question about, I bring up that template and add it in. I've learned so much from the people on this forum.

Just FYI, I had A&P that was almost 20 years old and my school (BSN-state university) took it. They told me if I felt I wasn't up to speed in the subject it was up to me to take a refresher. A&P is supposed to be there to help you pass the nursing courses that follow...
