Hello well I am a LPN student and I am suppose to interview nurses so i figured this might be the best way because i might be able to get a lot of responses. well I have some questions for the interview.

1. Why did you choose to be a nurse?

2.What school did you attend and why?

3. If you could give me some tips what would they be?

4. How long have you been a nurse?

5.What are your likes and dislikes about nursing?

And if you would like to tell me more information that would be appreciated.

I thank everyone that responded to my post.:)

i choose to be a nurse, because i like helping people and the pay :yeah:i went to a community college for financial reasons. my tips would be always listen when your paitients complain of pain or show signs of pain. not eveyone has the same pain threshold. another tip donot become discourage when your in nursing school it will be much better when you graduate and join the real world.i have been a nurse6yrs.likes the pay, flexiblity, oppernuities.dislikes none:D:nurse:

1. Why did you choose to be a nurse?

I didn't, really, it was the only program available at the time that fit in my schedule. I had just had a baby and decided I needed a career, not just a job.

2.What school did you attend and why?

I attended a local tech college b/c it was a one year program (LPN). Time was of the essence since I had a new baby.

3. If you could give me some tips what would they be?

Work as a tech while you're in school if you're able to. I think that the hands on experience and ready access to nurses' brains to pick helped me out alot. Also, be prepared for a shock when you transition from nursing student to nurse...the first year is usually a little rough. Always remember ABC; keep in mind that everything about nursing is about prioritization. Be nice to your techs; they can make or break your shift!

4. How long have you been a nurse?

8 1/2 years and counting....

5.What are your likes and dislikes about nursing?

Likes: Opportunities to educate patients to help make their lives better; being able to care for people and help them when they most need it; always learning new things; team atmosphere (although it took me four years to find a floor that fit me as perfectly as possible); endless opportunities for specialization

Dislikes: "Customer service" atmosphere; unsupportive management; uncaring physicians; redundant paperwork

1. why did you choose to be a nurse?

i wanted to do something that meant something. i had been trained to be an accountant and was starting out working as a bookkeeper. after several years found that i did not like it. i needed to be helping people and that wasn't happening in an office listening to people gossip.

2.what school did you attend and why?

a local community college program because it was the only one available to me and because i just didn't have the money to go to a private school.

3. if you could give me some tips what would they be?

i have been hanging out and answering student questions for several years on allnurses. one of the things that newbies worry about is fear of the unknown. all of us who started out as students had many of the same worries and concerns. we get through them by facing and conquering what scares us. the worst thing you can do is the let fears get a hold on you, wallow about and fester in them. we would have never made it to the moon with that kind of thinking. a positive attitude will get you far in a job and in life.

nothing worthwhile is ever easy, including nursing school.

the things that come to those who wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

a teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.

accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

4. how long have you been a nurse?

i got my
rn
license in 1975 and still have it although i have not been able to work because of medical problems since 2004.

5.what are your likes and dislikes about nursing?

i like. . .that i can affect others with just a word, an action, my presence. nursing, to me, is very spiritual and is a career that ranks right up there with priests and nuns because we give without requiring reward. it is as uplifting for me as it is helpful for the patient. i dislike. . .that clinical nursing is so physically demanding, that so many (especially employers) within the profession still see it as just a job.

1. Why did you choose to be a nurse?

With the way the economy is, I needed a career that I know there is a future in. I also wanted a career that I could further my education in.

2.What school did you attend and why?

I'm attending a technical college because it suits my needs in size, cost, and convenience.

3. If you could give me some tips what would they be?

still a student, so I'm not sure.

4. How long have you been a nurse?

still a student

5.What are your likes and dislikes about nursing?

still a student

i had this homework assignment last week. make sure you get the references
